High Performing Students in Science
Dr. Stefanie Schmidtner, Data Scientist Audi AG
High performing students in science in PISA 2006 and PISA 2012 were characterized. Invidual, family and institutional characteristics that distinguish those students from others were identified. Connections between different elements in science teaching and high performing students‘ scientific competence and interest towards science were analyzed. In addition, profiles of self-concept and interest among high performing students were identified and connections of those profiles and the perception of motivational-affective supporting teaching and learning conditions were verified.
